Zimbabwe: IDC is looking for partnership in various fields

Industrial Development Corporation (IDC for short) is a good example of a private public sector partnership with more than 45 subsidiary companies in chemicals, clothing and textiles, mineral processing, etc. Now, it looks for partnership in various fields, including spinning and weaving, multifruit processing, and avocado processing.


In aspect of spinning and weaving:


IDC is looking for a joint venture partnership, and a technical and financing partner for the establishment of a spinning and weaving factory, 8000 tones of lint are available per annum and the estimated cost is USD 27.5 million. Still, IDC is looking for investment in the already existing textiles companies which are in need of recapitalization and modernization of existing equipment.

 

In aspect of multifruit processing:


Manicaland Province is well endowed with different types of fruits ranging from bananas, mangoes and guavas. Less than 20% of these fruits are sold as fresh fruit while the balance is left for processing into value added products. IDC is therefore looking for: Expertise in Multifruit processing and finance for setting up a plant in Manicaland;  The estimated cost of the project is USD 22 million and the project can be implemented in phases;

 

In aspect of avocado processing:


IDC is looking for financial partners for the establishment of a plant to process avocado pears into edible oils and skin care oils for discerning international markets; Estimated cost of the project is USD 4 million to finance the plant and equipment as well as working capital for the project.
