Dialogue between Secretary-general of China-Africa Industrial Forum Cheng Zhigang and Omar R. Mapuri, Tanzania's ambassador to China

On May 13, 2011, Secretary-General Cheng Zhigang of China Africa Industrial Forum had the In-depth talks with Ambassador Omar R. Mapuri of The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in the Peoples’ Republic of China. The talking theme focused on “2010 African Energy and Mineral Seminar” and the book named as 《Walk into Africa》- China-Africa New Opportunities of Business •Dialogue with 49 African diplomatic envoys to China etc. First of all, the Ambassador welcomed Secretary-General Cheng Zhigang to come to Embassy and showed his appreciation and support for work of China Africa Industrial Forum.

Ambassador: Welcome for your arrival. How are about the current situation of forum?

Secretary-General: Thank you for your invitation. I am glad to visit the Embassy. China Africa Industrial Forum  vigorously commits to developing China-Africa economic and trade exchanges and cultural exchange. Our forum makes strategic plans for African trade and investment and organizes Chinese enterprises to investigate and invest in African countries yearly. The first China Africa Industrial Forum has been held successfully in Beijing China National Convention Center in 2009. 2010 African Energy and Mineral Seminar has also been held by us in November 30, 2010. We will hold the second China-Africa Industrial Forum that means the first China-Africa Investment and Trade Exposition in the second half of this year.

Ambassador: Your activities are very rich. Tanzania has a very rich natural resources and Tanzania’s economy depends heavily on agriculture. is primarily agricultural. Tanzania’s main cash crops are coffee, cotton, sisal, cashew nuts, cloves, tea and tobacco etc. Tanzania’s industry depends on light industry and textile, as well as iron and steel, oil refining, chemical fertilizer, vehicles and farm equipment repairing factory etc. Tanzania has various Mining minerals which mainly depends on the diamonds, as well as minerals, base metals, , gold, Tanzanite hydrocarbons, oil, natural gas, coal, iron, phosphate etc. Tanzania Imports mainly go to machinery equipment, vehicles, ordinary commodity and oil. I hope you invite us in the next activities. At the same time, I hope we have practical cooperation.

Secretary-General: It has been a long time to China-Tanzania diplomatic relations. Chinese leaders have attached great importance to the friendship both Tanzania and China. China Africa Industrial Forum is an international organization under the guide of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. Our forum has a number of African experts. I hope We both can have close contact and carry out specific cooperation projects to make the contribution for China-Tanzania economic and trade development.
