Dialogue between Secretary-general of China-Africa Industrial Forum Cheng Zhigang and Dr. Mamadi DIARE, Guinean ambassador to China
In the afternoon on November 12, 2010,Secretary-general Cheng Zhigang of China Africa Industrial Forum went to Embassy of the Guinea Republic in China and then had a talk with Dr Mamadi DIARE who is Guinean ambassador in China.
Secretary-general Cheng Zhigang of China Africa Industrial Forum firstly thanked the support for the first China Africa Industrial Forum from ambassador. At the same time, Secretary-general Cheng invited ambassador to attend 2010 African Energy and Mineral Seminar which will be hold Beijing International Hotel, on November 30 (Tuesday), 2010.
Ambassador expressed his thanks for Secretary-general Cheng's visit and briefly introduced Guinean status.
Secretary-general Cheng expressed his sincere thanks for the best wishes of ambassador and asked some relevant questions.
Secretary-general: Guinea has rich mineral resources and Chinese company has the closest cooperation with Guinea in respect of minerals. No long ago(On November 10), China Henan International Cooperation Group Co., LTD. acquired exploration rights of Bauxite which floor area is 558 square kilometers from Guinea. At the same time, this company is the only Chinese company who acquire the exploration rights of Bauxite from Guinea Group. Ltd. Chinese company has great interest in Guinean investment and exploration. Could you briefly introduce some Guinean mineral resources?
Ambassador: I am glad to meet with Secretary-general. As you said, we always have the close and friendly cooperation relationship with China Africa Industrial Forum. we are glad to exchange similar with organization which is China Africa Industrial Forum because it is unique opportunity for us.
Maybe you were familiar with Guinea before. As you know, Guinea is a smaller country and Its territory area has only 246,000 square kilometers. But Guinea has rich mineral resources that is known as miracle of geology. The major mineral resource of guinea includes: bauxites, iron ores, gold, Diamonds, nickel, copper, cobalt, oil etc.
Guinea has rich bauxite ores which is the largest resources countries. Reserves of bauxite ores is 74 million tons on the basic of reserves 86 million. Guinean bauxite ores is spread. Known bauxite deposit is mostly located in Guinean western and middle parts. Bauxite deposit is explored easily.
Upper Guinea is considered as the best bauxite areas which chiefly locates in Fria, Kindia and Bo Kay. The reserves is about 50 million tons. In view of inconvenient transport of minerals, Guinean government plans to build a railway across Guinea.
Guinea has diamond about three hundred million carat. The diamond of reserves is from 25 million to 30 million carat. Most of diamonds come from Guinean south and east.
Guinean water resources are also rich. After exploitation, annual energy output of Guinea is estimated to reach 60 billion degree. Coastline is 300 km and Inshore fisheries resources are abundant. This is discovered that Coastal shelf has oil. Southeast has vast primeval forest.
The above is the simple status about Guinean mineral resources.
Secretary-general: China Africa Industrial Forum's purpose is to promote China-Africa the strategic cooperative partnership relationships, to carry out President Hu's 8 measures and to help Chinese enterprises invest in Africa. Please could you introduce how do Guinea see the cooperation with China?
Ambassador: China has the deep friendships with Guinea. Guinea established diplomatic relations with China on Oct 4, 1959 and it is the first Africa country located in sub-Saharan which established the diplomatic relationship with China. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, two countries' people always keep long-term and stable bilateral economic and trade relations and economic, technical co-operation relationships and else cooperation relationship such as culture, education, hygiene and military etc. Premier Zhou enlai, Vice Premier Huang Ju etc friendly visited Guinea. We welcome Chinese enterprises invest in Guinea. At the same time, Guinea government will give the best support.
Probably, for most of Chinese people, Guinea is a distant country but it is not very far which locates in the central position of five continents and is the central trade hub in five continents. Guinea has great strategic location that provides favorable condition for China-Guinea economic and trade exchanges.
Secretary-general: What kinds is Guinean policy for Chinese government and enterprises?
Ambassador: After long-term and friendly cooperative relations, China and Guinea has deep friendships. Maybe the young people now couldn't understand the deep friendship from two countries' people and are unfamiliar with Chinese aid and support for Guinea, but these are not problems. The young people can gradually know them by depending on learning. Two countries' relationships will have further development by more specific level. Guinean government would give more supports for small& medium enterprises and pay more attention to small& medium enterprises' cooperation and exchanges because the exchanges will more pragmatically and effective.
Secretary-general: At the end of Nov, 2010, China Africa Industrial Forum Committee will hold "2010 African Energy and Mineral Seminar". The seminar's purpose is to assistant enterprises and help African countries' government build energy and mineral's import and export activities. The purpose is to build a platform for China-Africa governments and enterprises.
