Ambassador: As we all know, Malawi is a predominantly agricultural country, but our level of agricultural technology is limited. We welcome Chinese relevant enterprises of mechanic fields invest in Malawi; In addition, there are very rich mineral resources in Malawi. For example, our country has around  100,000,000 tons of tar, 700,000,000,000 tons of alluvial gold and 280,000,000,000 tons of bauxite etc. Malawi has rich oil resources. I believe it will have the economic contribution 40% for Malawi . At present, our oil reserves are now about 50,000,000 tons and we also have rich coal reserves.

Secretary-General: what is the policy for Malawi's coal development?

Ambassador: Malawi is now more concerned about the areas of investment are hydropower, wind power, solar and other green energy etc. At present, the government more concerned about the coal projects. For example, the government  develops coal and then transfer the coal into electricity. We hope the relevant Chinese  enterprises to go to Malawi for investment's investigation and we will arrange for relevant investigation.

For example, CGGC , Shanghai Construction Group , CRBC, Anhui Foreign Economic Construction (Group) CO., LTD,  HuaWei and ZTE etc make great contributions to China-Malawi cooperation. 

Secretary-General: How are about Malawi's investment environment ?

Ambassador: Our country has a relatively stable political environment and our government is friendly for all countries' enterprises. In the past seven years, Malawi's  GDP growth remained at a rate of 7%, our policy framework introduced by the Government is to give local investors and foreign investors the necessary guidance. The policy framework and is consistent with the UN's Millennium Development Goals . Our government is also trying to control inflation in single digits. Malawi is a landlocked country unlike with Chinese coast. Our transportation costs are higher, but we plans to launch an inland port to the sea. When project is completed, transport costs will be down by 60% . The entrepreneurs to invest in Malawi will don't worry about it, you can produce products in Malawi and then shipped to global market.

Secretary-General: At present, many Chinese people is not enough in-depth understanding for African countries. I hope to enhance cultural , economic and trade exchanges through our cooperation.
